No prompt at boot

Postby bt107 » Sat Apr 09, 2011 4:50 am

I have a curious issue. Recently I had an issue with a service not starting so I connected a monitor (it's usually headless) to watch the boot messages. It boots OK and all the services start OK. The odd thing is it never gets to a login prompt. It hangs after
Starting monit: [ OK ]
and just sits there with a blinking cursor. If I press esc to get the splash screen it just has the light blue screen with the little Ferdora f in the center. It never goes any further.

Oddly, I can use putty to ssh in and I get a login with no problem. I can start vncserver and get a remote desktop with no problem. My question is, which log file(s) can I check to see where the hangup is?

BTW: Amahi6 on Fedora 14 upgraded from Amahi5

Thanks!

Recommend you check the boot log. Also, look at any other logs in /var/logs for clues.
