Hello everyone. I'm quite new both to Linux and to Amahi, but decided to give it a shot to see if I could replace Windows Home Server with this.
The issue I'm having occurs after I attempt to add a new repository (during the initial Fedora 12 installation). I attempt to select my eth0 connection, and it just freezes almost immediately at "Sending request for IP information for eth0".
It just sticks there forever it seems. I never really let it get past 6 or 7 minutes. Anyways, does anyone know what the problem could be? I tried searching the forums but couldn't find anything. Even searching Google didn't really help too much.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,
I presume this machine is hard wired. Does it have more than one network card? It is possible that Fedora does not have a driver compatible with your network card.

Yes the machine is hard wired. Interesting to think that it would be a driver issue. I assume at that point I just have to use another network card, right?
edit: would a different version of Fedora work? Perhaps it would have a wider selection of drivers?

You are restricted to the version of Fedora. You could try a different network card. Amahi currently is only fully functional on Fedora 12. We are working on the Amahi alpha release for Fedora 14. You are welcome to try it, however there are no apps available at the moment.
See http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Fedora_14 for more info.

bigfoot65; I have had the same thing happen on at least two occasions. I would select the option to add the Amahi repository, click ok, and it just sits. The same machine has had flawless installs in the past, and is running fine today. I just kept re-installing, and eventually it worked. For some reason, I had associated this with a problem reaching the Amahi repo, as opposed to a network card issue. I can't recall why that is, though. There was a fellow on irc last week with the same complaint, too.Hello,

Interesting. Perhaps this is a more common issue than I once thought. Any thoughts Bigfoot?
I guess I'll just keep attempting a reinstall and see what happens. I've noticed Linux is like that a lot. If it doesn't work, reinstall and try again. Almost sounds like Windows.
