I've been googling and searching these forums but I cannot find a clear answer to this yet.
Is it possible to change the home domain after you've done an install of Amahi?
If this is not possible by a configuration, I reckon it's possible by manually modifying files, if that's the case, what files need to be changed?
Or is this barking upon the wrong tree and is a fresh install a better idea?

Re: change home domain
Install phpMyAdmin and modify the settings table.
Perhaps I will write a script similar to hda-change-dns to do this...

Re: change home domain
Is changing the settings the only thing that has to be done?
I mean, apache is configured also, and I don't think it does a Db query to gather it's info. The same goes for the DNS daemon etc.
It could of course be that Amahi magically reads the settings and keeps al conf files up to date, just checking though.

Re: change home domain
No, changing the domain is not supported. As the last poster hinted, these settings get propagated through a few places.
One way around it would be to uninstall all apps, then change the setting and then re-install the apps. Not exactly plug and play in general ...

Right now I am in LA at the IEEE 802.15/802.11 standards meeting and do not have my Amahi systems in front of meNo, changing the domain is not supported. As the last poster hinted, these settings get propagated through a few places.

But cpg is right that there is more than just changing the settings table. I forgot what I did the last time I did this (a few weeks ago). You also have to go into all the files in /etc/httpd/conf.d (I think that is the directory) and change those; they do NOT get rewritten by hdactl at boot. There MIGHT be changes in the apps table, but again, I don't have it here and it is a bit much to connect into remotely to check it all out.
This is really a pain. There is actually a limit to how long a domain can be, and if you make your domain too big, Samba complains, but truncates it for you. This only impacts your NetBios domain name, not the DNS name.
Then some apps may internalize the domain and then all bets are off. In the Amahi mail server app that I am working on with Bigfoot65, we HAVE to put the domain into the postfix conf files, so changes would be needed there. So the sooner (in terms of apps installs) you change the domain, the easier.
So better for me to NOT write that script, because all I could do would be the settings table change and a SED command to change the http conf files. (and I am AWFUL at SED)
Re: change home domain
I agree that changing is a teadious job, however I'm willing to take that risk, after all a reinstall is always an option.
Changing the httpd conf files is no problem for me, I can make a search/replace app easily. Are there any other apps/confs to consider here?

What do you have installed right nowAre there any other apps/confs to consider here?

Re: change home domain
sabnzb, b4rt torrentflux, ajaxplorer and thats it basically.
Re: change home domain
None of which I use. So hopefully people that know the inside of these apps can comment about if the domain information gets buried inside them.sabnzb, b4rt torrentflux, ajaxplorer and thats it basically.
Of course you can just go and change the tables, change the http conf files, reboot a couple times and see if everything works!
That is how I figured out what to do...
