New Install go for Fedora 14?

Postby sanosuke » Sun Jan 16, 2011 1:10 am

So I'm migrating from WHS and was wondering how far along fedora 14 was.. I looked around and all I can find is its supposed to be done sometime this month but its still alpha so I'm guessing january is not going to be its release time. Anyway I guess my main question is if I install fedora 12 would upgrading cause me to format my hard drives and have to go through moving all my data off then back? Only apps I need are dlna and sabnzbd not sure if those are fully workin yet in 14 I know the wiki said no apps are supported at this time... and advice would be appreciated

We have not tested an upgrade path yet. I have done it once and had no problems. It took quite a long time as well.

As for release of Amahi for Fedora 14, we are doing our best to meet the end of month goal. Please understand we are a very small team of volunteers.

Currently, SABnzbd does not work in Fedora 14. Its an issue with the RPM Fusion repo, but we hope to have it worked our when Amahi for Fedora 14 is released.

As for advice, I would recommend going with Fedora 12 and then you can upgrade to 14 when it is ready. You are not the only one with this concern, so I am confident we will have a successful upgrade path in time.
