my firewall is showing a lot of http requests going out to various servers from amahi.
is this normal behaviour?
eg. ftp2.uib.no, box.theshell.com, clamav-sj.viaverio.com to name a few
just wondering whether it's anything to do with squeezecentre streaming radio? its been the same station but loads of different connections
alot of outgoing port 80 connections
Re: alot of outgoing port 80 connections
Yes there will be calls going out. Keep in mind all the icons on the Dashboard for apps comes from amahi.org as does the news. Sometimes icons come from different places, so that would explain the other sites.
Of course there are other things going on as well that communicate with Amahi, to include checking for platform updates.
Nothing to be alarmed about. This is normal behavior.

What bigfoot says is correct. Things like the icons, and downloads of apps can come from various places, like the amahi wiki (though i think we may still have some in the blog area).
Generally speaking it's good to monitor what goes on through the firewall. Those sites do not look too familiar. Is it possible they are also from clients?

Re: alot of outgoing port 80 connections
they probably are. i have 6 squeeze devices connected to amahi running squeezecentre. i'll take a closer look at the firewall states in a few days but my guess is it's to do with sqeezecentre streaming etc
