Hi Everyone
My first post on here and probably not my last. I should have my new server built and ready for install in the next week or so, but one thing still puzzles me. I will be using it mainly to serve my xbmc machine with movies and music, but also as a back up for all my other pc's as well. There will be 2x2TB WD cavier green drives (to start with) for all the storage. My question is though what drive should Amahi be installed on? Im more than willing to put a small drive in (say 250gb) just for the install. In fact i think i would prefer it that way. Is this the way to go or would it be best to install it on 1 of the the WD's. Also if installed on a seperate drive does that drive need to be a fast one or will any type do.
Cant wait to try this os out it looks so good.
Thanks in advance for any help
John
Newbie install question
Re: Newbie install question
You can certainly create 1 or more separate partitions on one of the TB drives to install the OS on if you want.
I personally like the idea of using a small drive for the OS and saving the TB drives for the server. This would be ideal if you already had an older drive kicking around. I don't think the drive performance matters much. You just want it to be reliable!

Re: Newbie install question
Thanks for the quick response radioz. Thats just what i was hoping. I have 1 more question if possible please though.
Is it best to install Amahi and then add the extra hard drives afterwards or have them already installed for the os to see them?
Thanks again

Re: Newbie install question
I would recommend you have them installed prior to installing Fedora 12 and Amahi. That saves a little hassle with adding them afterwards.
It can be done both ways however.
