Hi,
I plan to use amahi with greyhole to do a server at home and I want to be sure what is safe and what is not safe to include in shared folders? Is it safe to include svn repos in shared folders for backuping to other drives? Is it possible to include shared folders from other nas device or shared folders from windows pc that is mounted in local filesystem to greyhole shared folders to be backed up to hda local drives? Example: pc1 contain folder aa and bb. nas1 contain folder cc. Can I mount \\pc1\aa folder to /var/hda/files/pc1/aa and include this folder to greyhole or something similar?
Thank you in advance for your response.
Jim
What can be include in shared folders?
Re: What can be include in shared folders?
You can put any regular files on Greyhole shares without problems, including SVN repositories.
You can't put remote files in a Greyhole share, not without copying them manually anyway.
Could you explain further what you'd want to do that ? Maybe using real folder names, so I can better understand your actual needs.

Re: What can be include in shared folders?
Ok.
Example: I have a shared folder backup. I want to have a folder john in backup that is a mount from my friend's backup folder. Then I presume if John change something in is backup folder, then files will be copied in gh/backup/john folder on my local disks. I want to know if it's possible to do this and how? Do I need to create the mount point in /var/hda/files/backup/john or elsewhere?
Thank you.

Re: What can be include in shared folders?
This is not possible with Greyhole.
The only way that Greyhole will work is if the changes are made through the local samba server.
If you mount a remote share, the change will be made remotely, and Greyhole won't know about it.
If you'd like to backup John's files to your Amahi server, you should use CrashPlan, which is available in Amahi.
