Mount Issues

Postby kermtfrg » Thu Nov 11, 2010 8:56 pm

I'm not sure what happened but I rebooted the computer and seem to have lost one of my hard drives, sdc1 below. Now I can't get it to mount:

Code: Select all

[root@localhost jon]# hda-diskmount **************************************************************** Ignoring /dev/sdf1 - already mounted Ignoring /dev/sdf1 - already mounted Ignoring /dev/sdf1 - already in /etc/fstab as UUID=087E0CE17E0CC980 **************************************************************** Ignoring /dev/sda1 - already mounted Ignoring /dev/sda1 - already in /etc/fstab as UUID=7d5a9517-85f5-4013-a111-e843d52c8c19 **************************************************************** Ignoring /dev/sdc1 - already in /etc/fstab as UUID=1d47d9fc-2b74-4f04-be5d-a0b2461ad284 **************************************************************** Ignoring /dev/sdd1 - already mounted Ignoring /dev/sdd1 - already in /etc/fstab as UUID=493580b6-d6fb-422d-b426-b6943c23e943 **************************************************************** Ignoring /dev/sdb1 - already mounted Ignoring /dev/sdb1 - already in /etc/fstab as UUID=95242d47-6f06-448a-9022-1845e54d005f **************************************************************** No usable Linux, Windows or Mac partitions found on your disks.
Before I rebooted everything was fine. What am I doing wrong here? What did I do to make this happen?

Here is the info you request in the sticky:

Code: Select all

Try (as root):

Code: Select all

grep 1d47d9fc-2b74-4f04-be5d-a0b2461ad284 /etc/fstab grep 7d5a9517-85f5-4013-a111-e843d52c8c19 /etc/fstab mount -a mount /var/hda/files/drives/drive4
It appears the drive4 (sdc1) is in fstab, but is not currently mounted... not sure why that would be...

Here are the results of the commands you asked for:

Code: Select all

[root@localhost jon]# grep 1d47d9fc-2b74-4f04-be5d-a0b2461ad284 /etc/fstab UUID=1d47d9fc-2b74-4f04-be5d-a0b2461ad284 /var/hda/files/drives/drive4 [root@localhost jon]# grep 7d5a9517-85f5-4013-a111-e843d52c8c19 /etc/fstab UUID=7d5a9517-85f5-4013-a111-e843d52c8c19 /var/hda/files/drives/drive1 ext4 defaults 1 2 [root@localhost jon]# mount -a mount: mount point 1 does not exist mount: unknown filesystem type '' mount: mount point defaults does not exist [root@localhost jon]# mount /var/hda/files/drives/drive4 mount: unknown filesystem type '' [root@localhost jon]#

You have a typo in your fstab file.

That line:

Code: Select all

UUID=1d47d9fc-2b74-4f04-be5d-a0b2461ad284 /var/hda/files/drives/drive4
should be:

Code: Select all

UUID=1d47d9fc-2b74-4f04-be5d-a0b2461ad284 /var/hda/files/drives/drive4 ext4 defaults 1 2
You're missing the ext4 defaults 1 2 part (maybe it's on a separate line below it, in which case you'll need to remove it from there, and put it at the end of the drive4 line.

Then do mount -a again and your drive should re-appear.
