Last night HDA stopped working. I.e it went off-line overnight, no internet (as it runs internet), Win10 machines couldn't see the server, PuTTY couldn't connect either. I run the server headless.
In the afternoon I plugged in DVi for screen (didn't work--previously had), plugged in hdmi and I could see the log in screen. I had to manually reboot by using button on box. After reboot and logging in I tried an update but no internet. After 4 or 5 more reboots I finally got a connection, did an update and got the server back up and running as normal i.e it managing DHCP, file server.
I'm keen to know why it crashed overnight.
Is there anyway to troubleshoot log files or something to find out what happened?
Many thanks.

I don't see anything in the info you provided that would indicate an issue.
Could this be a hardware problem?

Could be but I wouldn't know how to go about troubleshooting that. The system has been stable since this issue.I don't see anything in the info you provided that would indicate an issue.

Could a power outage or spike cause this?
Re: tools to troubleshoot HDA crashing overnight
Yes any disruption in power can cause issues. Hopefully you have the server plugged into a surge suppressor.Could a power outage or spike cause this?
Since it sounds like the issue is resolved, can we close this one?

Yep, it's on a surge protector and an UPS is next on the shopping list.Yes any disruption in power can cause issues. Hopefully you have the server plugged into a surge suppressor.
