SOLVED: Fedora 19 and Atheros drivers

Postby SafeZone » Sun May 04, 2014 6:35 am

Hi All,

I installed Fedora 19 on my PC following instructions for Amahi USB installation but i faced unexpected issue. My Eth card is not recognized by Fedora system. It is Atheros network card integrated with ASROCK motherboard. I found drivers and suggestions how to install it but I still cannot get my drivers working. Still getting same error: Cannot retrieve metalink for repository: fedora/19/x86_64.

I am almost about to give up. :)

My last question is what will happen if I try to upload Amahi using express CD? Does this installation includes appropriate drivers? Is there any chance it will work. My thinking is that it will not as it is still based on Fedora 19 but I thought I will ask to be sure.

Any help would by much appreciated. Maybe someone knows how I can get this driver working?

Your best chance is using the full DVD. If that does not work, then you will have to manually install the drivers before installing Amahi.

Hmmmm.... that is what I have tried. Now I have Fedora 19 running on my PC and I tried to upload drivers manually. But as I have totally no experience with Linux I must do something wrong. When I try to install any file I still get same error that metalink is missing from repository, and when try to install drivers I am getting an error something like dependencies cannot be resolved - or something like that (can't check it right now).

If someone could direct me where should I start to look for a fault. I was thinking about:
- kernel version do not mach?
- repository files not working, installed, missing.

But as said before that is my first Linux so I guess and have now idea where to start.

Also, does it matter if my PC is offline or online. Obviously as I cannot use my Ethernet card I cannot also connect it to the Internet.

thanks for that. I will first try to upload Fedora from full DVD. If that will fail then I might try this.

I found a manual which says that when installing from full DVD, minimal installation should be chosen. What worries me is if I will chose minimal installation all drivers might not be install and I will and up with the same issue.

Would you know if it is OK to do full installation of Fedora 19 from DVD and than install Amahi?

I would not recommend full install. Last time it was attempted, Amahi would not install correctly. Try the minimal install and see how it goes. If the drivers are available, it should pick them up.

Got it working :D Thanks

only one issue is that Amahi recognised my 4TB drive as 41GB. :?

What to do with that?

Did you check out the wiki guidance for 4TB drives? Was it connected when you installed Fedora 19 and Amahi? It works best when only the OS drive is connected.

Thanks for that. Unfortunately in my case I have only 1 drive installed (4TB) which keeps Amahi as well as my data. I found some info about changing default partitioning and using manual configuration. I followed that, got my HDA re-installed with new setting and now it looks fine.

Will see how it works and probably will return to this topic once will decide to attach additional drives.

But for now it looks fine. Time to start having fun with all applications and other features.

Thanks for help:)
