SOLVED:Keep getting error when trying to do headless install

Postby wyzard » Tue Feb 11, 2014 11:49 am

Good afternoon.

I'm trying to install amahi so I can use it in an HP Mediasmart Server. I'm using the express install CD. I have a old drive that I'm trying to use (has windows, etc.) on it. I plug it into my computer, find the drive, do a reclaim space and then continue. As I'm entering the admin name and password, I get an error message that it can't continue. It's a very long message and at first indicates that some packages are missing.

Can anyone provide me with some help so I can get this installed and running.

Thank you.

Thanks. But I thought the express install didn't require going through all that? Or am I missing something?

Thanks again.

Notice it was for Ubuntu. Maybe format the drive before trying to install Amahi.

Now trying to modify theifcfg-eth0 file but there isn't one. Figured I could just create one but not sure what would go in the search and domain fields. Almost there. Just a little more help. Or don't I need this file anymore. I'm following the instructions found here...

Ok, so is this resolved then? BTW, the link in your last post is bad.

The installing it to hard drive is resolved. Want to move the drive to my hp media smart server and that's where I'm having issues now with the ifcfg-eth0 file being non-existent. Reposted link below.... Thanks for all the help.

The link you followed was for Fedora 14, not 19 so it may not be accurate.

As for moving the drive to the server, there is some guidance in the wiki that might help.
https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Post-I ... re_Changes

Also Fedora 19 often does not see the network card as eth0. That may be why you are having issues. Amahi tries to make the device emulate eth0, but not sure how that works with your HP Media Smart server. That machine has always been a problem with Amahi installs.
