Motherboard/GPU advice

Postby faqinel » Thu Oct 18, 2012 9:53 am

I am looking at building an Amahi server with a mini-itx motherboard and skt 1155 processor (probably i3). I'd like to leave the PCI-E port free to take a TV Card and am looking to install PLEX and MythTV Plugins. Can anyone confirm whether either of these two plugins would benefit from having an nVidia or AMD GPU to assist with transcoding. PLEX would potentially have up to two clients connected at any one time and I have three XBMC installs that I would like to connect to the MythTV backend.

I had dismissed using my current Atom 330/ION board as I thought it would struggle with transcoding video and audio whilst shuffling data across four disks in a volume group. Again I would appreciate any input you might have.

My thanks in advance.

Hate to say it, but this is probably a quesiton better answered in the PLEX or MythTV forums. Even google the video card you're considering along with the plex or mythTV keywords and you could easily find others with the same question and answers.
