Adding miniDLNA to monitoring

Postby cmslick3 » Thu Aug 16, 2012 6:47 am

I manually installed miniDLNA on my test Amahi sever running on a Virtual Box. I would like to be able to add this to the Amahi monitoring system so that the watchdog can keep and eye on DLNA.

Is it possible to add manually installed apps to the monitoring, or does the app have to be installed by Amahi to be in that list?

I'm no Linux expert but I think I can get around pretty well.

Further details:
Virtual Box
Amahi Express install - One shot install!
miniDLNA manual install. Working well so far BTW!

I'm coming from a WHS V1 background so I'm very impressed with where Amahi is at. I don't mind manually doing things.

It is possible, but requires advanced user skills. This is not a trivial thing to do as it involves the production database and some code being added for monit to parse. There is always a risk of breaking the HDA when messing with the database if you are not careful.

Recommend if you desire that feature, you install the Amahi app.

Understood... Stay away from the database.

Is the Amahi app based upon the latest 1.0.25 build of miniDLNA? I tested it with my picky Samsung TV and it worked great so I want to make sure that it is supported in the Amahi version. The TV is a UN55C9000 model, the one that used the old AllShare software.

I will very likely be paying for the Amahi app if and when I decide to re-build my HP EX490 into a full Amahi box. Right now I'm just testing on a Virtual box so if I can't monitor miniDLNA I can live with that.

Thanks for the insight.

Not sure about Fedora, but I believe Ubuntu is the latest. You can also install the Amahi version, then update the minidlna script to the latest as well.
