Hey guys,
Whilst I know typical upgrade path is uninstall and reinstall, I want to make sure all of my current settings are kept if possible.
How would I go about doing this? Just backing up the ini file? Looked at this: https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Sabnzbd but unsure if the advice was still valid.
Many thanks!
Updating Sab+ from 0.6.15 to 0.7.1
Re: Updating Sab+ from 0.6.15 to 0.7.1
That is pretty much the path. When you uninstall SABnzbd Plus, it backs up your configuration file to the newsgroup share. Then on install, it will pull it from there if it exists.
However, I think you will find that 0.7.1 will not work with Fedora or Ubuntu. We have tried to update the app with no success. With Fedora 14, it appears it is too outdated to support the latest SABnzbd dependencies.
There is some library issues or something with the new SABnzbd app. Still working on a solution, but for now it seems 0.6.15 is the best version for Amahi.
If you manage to get it working, please let us know. We would be glad to use the guidance to update the Amahi version.

Re: Updating Sab+ from 0.6.15 to 0.7.1
SABnzbd 0.7.1 is working perfectly on Amahi Fedora 16 (as everything else, like the latest minidlna cpg said is complicated to get working: no problem at all).
If you don't want to have outdated apps, don't install them from the Amahi repo.
The wiki on the SABNzbd site is very easy to follow, this is how I installed it and like everything else it gets updated to the latest version with "yum update".
Easy howto to update Amahi Fedora 14 to Fedora 16 was posted on these forums by me, just use search. (but if you are a complete newbie on Linux I don't recommend you do it; even though there's no problem a newbie might get lost with Linux).
Fedora 16 Amahi running rock stable for 2 months here (with latest mkvtoolnix, SABnzbd, utorrent, VPN, minidlna, etc...). It works better than the Fedora 14 version too, samba network transfers are faster and the locally mounted shares work at full speed (which wasn't the case with Fedora 14).
PS: if you want to make it easy, install the official ubuntu version of Amahi. It's not as current as Fedora 16 (which is currently on kernel 3.4.4), but at least you'll be able to install the latest apps (which don't work on Fedora 14) and have the currently "most solid AND up to date" officially supported Amahi base.
PS2: just noticed bigfoot said SAB is not working on ubuntu? This surprises me. Fedora 16 it is then, and you'll be able to upgrade it when the official Fedora 17 Amahi comes out.

Re: Updating Sab+ from 0.6.15 to 0.7.1
Looks like I have SABnzbdPlus sorted out for Fedora and Ubuntu. Just a few small issues we have to resolve with the app installer before I can release it.

Re: Updating Sab+ from 0.6.15 to 0.7.1
No problem. Latest version too. Will be a small difference from past versions. The app will not run as a service, so no server feature.
The restart and shutdown can be done via the web UI. To start it, it's a simple CLI. It will also start on boot, so should be more stable. This will be the source version as with Fedora 14 now so makes updating a piece of cake. Backup the sabnzbd.ini and blow away the rest. Then extract new files, move the config file back and start it.

Re: Updating Sab+ from 0.6.15 to 0.7.1
Hey Bigfoot
there seems to be an issue with the new version on f14
i have updated it and now it will not start up
if i type service sabnzbdplus start i get
Starting SABnzbd.
/usr/bin/sabnzbdplus: line 3: 3673 Aborted (core dumped) ./SABnzbd.py -d -f /var/hda/web-apps/sabnzbdplus/html/sabnzbd.ini &>/dev/null
it seems to be a interpreter error which shouldn t even be there
starting the sabnzbd.py gives me this error
python: /builddir/build/BUILD/Python-2.7/Objects/dictobject.c:759: PyDict_SetItem: Assertion `value' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)
i rebooted the server and still nothing any help on wth is going on would be apreciated
thnx

Re: Updating Sab+ from 0.6.15 to 0.7.1
This appears to be not fixable. We moved the app back to beta for Fedora 14. The new version is not compatible with that version from what I can tell.
0.6.15 is the last working version for Fedora 14. Sorry, cannot do much about this one. If you by chance sort it out, please let us know.

Re: Updating Sab+ from 0.6.15 to 0.7.1
We can accommodate I am sure. What I will do it make the current one dual version so Fedora 14 users can use 0.6.15 and Ubuntu the 0.7.2 version.
I will post shortly when its ready.
