Hey guys,
Just noticed that my logwatch hasn't been sent this morning, and decided to check it out.
Logged into webmin and saw that I have 25 mails pending to be sent.
Next to each is: Deferred: Connection refused by hda.home.com
Was working yesterday, so no idea what the heck is going on.
Sendmail is up and running, tried restarting it, still no go.
As a Linux noob, now totally stumped.
edit: tried doing a flush and got the following:
Forcing the attempted delivery of 1 selected messages ..
WARNING: local host name (AlexServer) is not qualified; see cf/README: WHO AM I?

Re: Emails not being sent
Check to see that postfix is running as well. They work together.

Re: Emails not being sent
How do you have the email set up? Are you using your ISP or Google?

Re: Emails not being sent
Not sure what the issue could be. Check log files in /var/log folder.

Re: Emails not being sent
You might consider redoing the mail setup. That would fix anything that might be broken I would think. Have you rebooted? It indicates the address is already is use which often is corrected with a reboot.
Is there something you did recently on the HDA that might affect the email? Seems odd that it was working, then all of a sudden quit.

Re: Emails not being sent
Uninstalled + reinstalled postfix + sendmail, redid the setup, and it now seems emails are getting through (emails in the queue aren't, but I deleted those and will see how things go).You might consider redoing the mail setup. Thank you very much for all your help!
Re: Emails not being sent
Great! Hard to say what was broken, but at least you have it going again. Email is such a complicated thing with a server for some reason.
BTW, we have a mail server application in testing that works well. If you would be interested in testing some time, please let me know.
http://www.amahi.org/apps/amahi-mail-system
Not sure if it will ever make it live, but it has served me well in the past. The key to it's success is ensuring you have a valid host name, not localhost.
