fedora 14 error on amahi image copy to hard drive

Postby joebags3 » Tue Jan 17, 2012 5:38 am

during the fedora install receiving an error that the amahi image failed to copy to the hard drive. the exact error is as follows:

SystemError: (4, 'umount: /mnt/sysimage/proc: device is busy.\n (In some
cases useful info about processes that use\n the device is found by
lsof(8) or fuser(1))')

I am following the directions and the computer does accomodate the basic install requirements. I do not feel this is a network issue otherwise the repository settings wouldnt be able to pull over the information and continue to the next step. The main drive is 500 gig, with two storage drives of 1 tb each. I have also attempted to install with only the install drive and the same result occurs. I also tried to install utilizing the default fedora space allocations for the install drive for kicks and giggles, although after a few hours I wasn't giggling too much. I am a newb with linux operating systems but far from a newb when it comes to working with computers. Any ideas would be appreciated.

There is no Amahi image so there must be something else going on. Amahi adds framework and packages, no image.

Recommend you check that you have a good Fedora 14 DVD by verifying the checksum. It is possible that something is corrupt on the DVD. I had also here there was issues accessing the Amahi repo yesterday, so this could be related to that as well.

bigfoot65 thank you for the response. I have checked the dvd and it is fine. The error is still occurring today, so unless there is still reported issues with the Amahi repro, it would seem to be another issue. The /mnt/sysimage/proc device appears to be busy, at least that is what the error is calling for, I guess my question would be is this related to the Amahi repro, or an internal device say the HD or the DD drive?

Ok, could be a connection problem with the Amahi repo. I just checked and it appears to be operational. Is it possible there is a problem with your DVD drive?

Another way to try is to install Fedora without the Amahi repo. Then if all goes well, do the install again with the repo and see what happens. Would recommend you disconnect all drives except the one you are going to install the OS on.

You can reconnect them once Amahi is successfully installed following guidance in the wiki. Works best that way, at least for me.
