I downloaded the 32 bit version of fedora and have used the CD to install successfully but i tried to install it on an old DELL i have laying around and the CD boots up i select the first option from the boot menu and while loading initrd.img it comes up with an error message that says my system is an i 686 architecture and the cd is for x86 systems i thought i686 was a 32 bit system i cant find any direction in where to go and when i look at the download section all i see for i686 are live CD's. Can i not install Amahi on an i686 computer? Im not sure where to go or what to do please help
Thank You
Install on i686
Re: Install on i686
It could be the hardware for the old Dell is not supported by Fedora 14. Have you tried the DVD? Also you need to have a min of 512MB RAM I believe to install.

512MB RAM is required. I have heard of a few installing with 384MB, but 256MB is not enough for Fedora and Amahi both to work, atleast not in graphical mode.
In text mode, it might. Consider trying the Amahi Express CD install which is headless and no GUI interface.

That is your only option and no guarantee that will work. You really need more memory.
