I am very happy to announce that we just released the new and improved platform that supports on-click install of applications in what we believe will be a revolutionary way! This release opens the doors for many other apps to easily run on top of your Amahi server.
If your HDA is running and you have not disabled automatic updates, you should have the newest platform release (hda-platform-2.2) at the moment.
To see the new platform in action, go to Setup -> Applications.
Many thanks go to all that made this release possible by helping with testing, with suggestions, becoming an application packager, debugging, contributing or encouraging!
This is our largest and most complex feature set addition to date!
Consider becoming an application maintainer/packager, which simply means you set up apps for easy installation by everyone in the community. Soon we will be documenting this process more, however, you can see some of the apps already in the nascent Amahi application gallery!
(you can rate the applications!)
Please exercise the apps and let's start stressing the feature. Report issues (and/or your impressions/suggestions) here in this thread, or better yet, if it's reproducible, in the tracker.
cpg, for the rest of the team
ps: the inside story. our first release 2.0 yesterday and interim test release 2.1 proved to have some subtle permission issues with files for webapps (in /var/hda/web-apps), leaving some of them there owned by root. not good.
this new release should behave properly in this regard. now, because the previous releases created webapp files with root permissions and this new version does it as apache:users, you may have to first delete applications you may have installed under 2.0 or 2.1 (if you happened to do so!), and perhaps manually delete the corresponding files in /var/hda/web-apps/APPNAME.
pps: we're still working some small issues. it appears that due to caching, some systems may require the browser to be restarted as well as perhaps the services (by typing hdactl-hup). please report back if you come across any issues.

Can't wait to check this out! My box has been down for a few weeks b/c Fedora keeps "corrupting" my xfs partition, and I haven't had time to backup and fix it. Hope to have it running soon, though.
