How to select eth1 instead of eth0???

Postby ReneZ » Fri Dec 03, 2010 12:58 am

Hi, I'm having some issues with my Amahi box. It is a Compaq Evo D51 SFF which I have fitted with a 16 GB SSD for the system, a 3Ware RAID card with two 500 GB HDD in RAID1. Initially I was using the old network card of the box, but I wanted a higher speed connection and hopefully less dropouts (I'm using it as a music server) and fitted a Gigabit network card (D-Link DGE-528T). I had a problem getting Fedora to recognise the card, but now have that fixed. However it seems that although ifconfig shows the harware details the network manager 'does not want to work with it' It shows the card, but the buttons for starting and stopping the card are greyed out. I tried all kinds of things, but am stuck. The on board card (which I haven't been able to switch of in the bios) is recognised as eth0 and the new one as eth1.
Basic question; how do I ensure the box works with the new card instead of ther old one?
Many thanks for advise! Cheers, Rene.
Cheers, Rene
