dvd playback isos

Postby snowguy » Mon Nov 01, 2010 9:32 pm

I've used amahi a while back but not currently using it. I would like to get it setup again to deal with the following problem but looking for advice on how to go about this.

Lately I've taken to backing up all our families DVDs on the computer using Ubuntu. It works great backing them up as ISO images just by right clicking on them. Then we use VLC to play them. This keeps sticky fingers from ruining the DVDs. I have about 50 DVD ISOs at this point. I would love to be able to set them up on an Amahi server somehow so we could watch them from any of the 3 computers in the house. Is that possible?

Sure.

I set up a public file share where I store all of my videos. Any user on my network can browse to the directory and play a video.

There is a new application called 'Videos5' that apparently can stream videos to users on your network. I have not tried it yet, but you can go to the Applications area of this forum to see people discussing it.

Let us know how you make out!

I am going to guess that there was no movement on this problem. I to have kid .iso files so I can save the wear and tear. I can't se how to fix the .iso problem.

I have amahi running dlna which is clear about ot playing isos. So why can't I get my WD TV live player to see my hda shares and then convert it through the player like i used to when I simply shared it from a windows machine?
