Okay, maybe I'm missing something obvious:
I wanted to try setting up VPN, so I tried to log into the admin panel of my Linksys WRT54G router at 192.168.1.1 . In Firefox, didn't get any response. In Internet Explorer, got a "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error screen. No login window or anything.
Passed all steps of Amahi's network troubleshooter no problem.
I think I was able to reach the router control panel before.
Advice?
I can't reach my Linksys router admin panel
Re: I can't reach my Linksys router admin panel
hmm, typically you ought to be able to do reach it with http://router
that is, if all is normal.
since you said you could ping your router from your hda by IP address, and you are probably connected to your hda from your client, so you should be able to ping your router from your client.
i.e. like this:
otherwise there definitely seems to have some unusual networking issue.

Code: Select all
http://192.168.1.1/
My HDA: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz on MSI board, 8GB RAM, 1TBx2+3TBx1

Okay, now that I've figured it out I could just slink off into the night and spare myself the humiliation, but I'd rather close this loop.
See, I don't think I was entering "http://". I just did (i.e. "http://192.168.1.1") and up popped the admin login screen.
Cue Emily Letilla: "Never mind...".
