Fedora 13 and btrfs

Postby fblittle » Mon May 17, 2010 11:50 pm

With the iminent release (May 25, 2010) of Fedora 13 in a few days, will I be able to install Amahi on Fedora 13? Is there that much difference from Fedora 12 to Fedora 13? What I really want is to be able to use the btrfs file system. I have heard that btrfs is available as well on Fedora 12? Is it possible to enable it and install Amahi on it?

Hello,

It is highly unlikely that Amahi will work on Fedora 13 as is. It will be quite some time before we move to Fedora 13, so we will only support Fedora 12 until then. We like to give new versions of Fedora time to settle before moving forward.

As for the btrfs file system, I cannot answer that one. However, there may be someone here who can.

We are not supporting yet Fedora 13 (that is where we will keep track of the progress).

Btrfs is very very interesting. Especially the snapshotting feature. Kinda like ZFS. Great for our development!

I learned about it in this Btrfs in Fedora 13 interview. Looks like it's included as experimental in F13.

btrfs looks really cool, but i don't think we would support it right away since it is so new.
