Gallery2 blank page error
Re: Gallery2 blank page error
I don't do manual installs for just this reason. Recent installs include Webmin and vtiger but I have deinstalled both since then. I'm puzzled as well. The errors I am getting from from firefox are like this;
Re: Gallery2 blank page error
Please try to re-install Gallery 2.
I just committed a fix that might help you.
The main page of Gallery 2 would just not show.
It's a workaround for now; I couldn't find why PHP would crash, but I found a way to make it stop crashing.

Re: Gallery2 blank page error
Thanks for trying to help but it isn't gallery2 related I am sure. vTiger does the same thing. Any clues on how to reinstall whatever controls the php end of things? Is this apache / ruby?
Re: Gallery2 blank page error
FWIW, i uninstalled, reinstalled and it's working for me.
i noticed that i had to wait about a minute to access the page (what the heck?), otherwise it would ask me to save main.php or somesuch nonsense.
my hda is not at the very latest updates, though i am doing it right now in case it helps debug this.
in any case, when you try it, the log for the app
and the log for the server
are the things that will help fix this problem.
can you post those?

Re: Gallery2 blank page error
hello, i had a chance to take a look at this issue.
apache dies with a segmentation violation.
i filed http://bugs.amahi.org/issues/show/499 to track this issue down. we're not the only one experiencing it, as this gallery bug is directly related (also in fedora 12, possibly related to php): http://gallery.menalto.com/node/95244
please login to the bug tracker and in that bug click on "watch" to track this issue.
this is a live app, so we should handle this with care.

Re: Gallery2 blank page error
Thanks for looking in to this. I hope there is a fix as the gallery2 app is very nice in Amahi. I haven't looked at the Apache logs but I wil do later today to see if it the same thing on my machine
Re: Gallery2 blank page error
Re-installing the Gallery 2 amahi application should fix the problem for now.
We're still investigating the real source of the problem, to fix it there, instead of hacking the Gallery 2 source.
Cheers.

Re: Gallery2 blank page error
OK guys, a quick update on progress. I noted that recent fedora 12 updates had installed a new version of PHP, so in an attempt to get Gallery2 working again, I basically backed up all my data, re-installed the whole server again, including a clean fedora12 install and disabled all updates.
Bottom line, Gallery2 now works perfectly again, so it's not conclusive that the PHP update was responsible but there is a smoking gun pointing to it.
Just a quick question; is it OK to enable security updates to fedora or should I give them a miss for now just in case?
I mentioned it in the install thread but once again, thanks to the team, the whole re-install process went without a hitch..

For those with an error/empty page when trying to login: the issue has been fixed.
Uninstall/re-install Gallery2, or just run the following command (as root):
