we had a pretty long discussion of what works for keeping transfer speeds up for reading/writing to the shares...

Myself I'm not an expert with Linux enough to tell you about your SATA interfaces without having the hardware in front of me.

what's your mobo model/make?
what are your hard drive(s) model/make?
