CLOSED: Partition Overwrite?

Postby tcm2Lions » Sat Feb 09, 2019 4:32 pm

I'm partitioning for the first time. I have a drive (/dev/sdc)that has a partition being used and I'm trying to build a new partition. The 'parted" cmd asks if I want to ignore or cancel. Please advise.

Current Partitions:
dev/sdb2 976 MB 830 MB 78.8 MB (9%) /boot
/dev/sdb3 49 GB 43.4 GB 3.03 GB (7%) /
/dev/sdc1 3.58 TB 3.4 TB 88.1 MB (1%) /home

If you want to use the whole drive and don't have anything on it to save then overwrite it.

If you have data on it to be saved, then don't partition the drive as it's probably all assigned to a single partition.

Best if you don't know what you are doing to use something like GParted Live CD.

No, I just don't know what is on that partition. This is a new setup... I thought maybe it was something installed by Amahi or Greypool.

Fedora and Amahi don’t write to drives added.

Must have written something... I overwrote it and the server crashed. Said root was locked.

Hmmm.

I do believe you might have chosen one of the drives in the Fedora setup.

We recommend installing with additional drives disconnected. Then once Amahi is setup, connect the drives

Any recommendation on how to fix "root is locked"?

Nevermind, I just reinstalled Amahi with one drive. Now I will use Gparted and partition.

Probably the best option. Will ensure a clean install.
