I see that netatalk is not installed in fedora25 / amahi 10
any clues on how to install it? time machine does not work without it!
CLOSED: netatalk?
Re: netatalk?
amahi-time-machine App is not LIVE for Amahi 10 on Fedora 25 for just that reason. We have seen dialogue that indicates netatalk may no longer be supported.
We are working to sort that out, but not sure when it will be ready.
Did you upgrade or install Amahi 10 from scratch?

Re: netatalk?
Hi - thanks for the reply. I installed Amahi 10 from scratch as my old HD fried in a power surge. I did not appreciate this was an issue.
I have seen this wiki that outlines how to install netatalk - http://netatalk.sourceforge.net/wiki/in ... and_CentOS
However, I do not know if this plays nicely with Amahi. I would try, but I am not sure how to download the package itself (a bit of a novice on underlying Fedora commands)

Not sure what you mean by this comment.I did not appreciate this was an issue.
We cannot provide support for this unfortunately. Just a word of caution, this could break your HDA if you don't know what you are doing.I have seen this wiki that outlines how to install netatalk - http://netatalk.sourceforge.net/wiki/in ... and_CentOS
You could try to find an older version for Fedora and try to install it. Unsure if it will work, but worth mentioning.

Re: netatalk?
You can try to install the CentOS 7 version. It may work.
Do the following:
No guarantee it will work, but worth a shot. Please understand we cannot provide support for this RPM.
Do the following:
Code: Select all
wget https://www.nbalonso.com/uploads/netatalk-3.1.7-0.1.el7.x86_64.rpm
Code: Select all
sudo rpm -Uvh netatalk-3.1.7-0.1.el7.x86_64.rpm

Re: netatalk?
FYI, I got it working using the wiki on Sourceforge for Netatalk
I ran into some dependency issues (of course), and an issue with how perl was installed on Amahi. A user netatalk admin mailing list suggested that I create the build package using:
I was then able to install easily without any dependency issues, because mock pulls all the dependencies down from the net, instead of relying on local sources. I configure the afp.conf file, and set the destination to a dedicated drive, and it's working perfectly, even on MacOS High Sierra (10.13), which "supposedly" wouldn't work with netatalk anymore.

Re: netatalk?
So, in regards to my last post, where I did manage to get Netatalk to work, it seems to have broken access to my shares. I believe there is an issue with Greyhole and Samba, and the version of Samba that Netatalk requires. Netatalk requires version 4.7 and I believe the amahi-greyhole distro is only running a version 3.x version of Samba.

It sounds like it can be fixed by changing some symlinks, as well as some conf files. For now, I rolled back my installation from a backup. Clonzilla to the rescue!
I hope this is being addressed in Amahi 11. I love the Amahi platform, but with Fedora 25 being End of Life and unsupported with any sort of security updates, I have to question if I just to build a vanilla server and figure out the needs on my own.
