Permissions issue

Postby wkromer » Sun Jul 16, 2017 6:29 pm

My amahi server has been running without issue for a few months and suddenly I can't login.

I just reset the root and user passwords through editing GRUB and modifying both passwords.

I'm still getting an error and am not able to login.

"-- amahi: home/amahi: change directory failed: permission denied
Logging in with home = "/".
-bash: /home/amahi/.bash_profile: Permission denied"

I'm not very familiar with the linux command line, so any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Sounds as if you have broken your #Amahi HDA.

Editing GRUB and resetting passwords outside of #Amahi dashboard is bad.

Sorry but we cannot assist. You will most likely need to reinstall it all from scratch.

You should have sought assistance initially.

I was getting the exact same error before I edited the passwords as well.

Did you have a power outage or do a hard shutdown of the server? Could it be a drive going bad? That would corrupt files and cause catastrophic failure.

Based on the info you provided, there doesn't seem to be a path to fix the issue.

Sorry we cannot be of much help. Only recourse I see would be a reinstall.

I'll reinstall and let you know if the error persists in the event it is a bug.

Thanks!
