Agreed - no network connectivity.

I didn't make any changes because I couldn't figure out what was necessary. The HP Mediasmart instructions you linked to are for Ubuntu and apparently Fedora is different enough for them not to apply (As is noted on the page). I've been reading the Fedora 23 networking documentation but haven't figured out what needs to be changed yet - perhaps because this is getting to the edge of my current technical knowledge . If I get this fixed I'll definitely do a write-up for the Wiki so others won't have such a hard time..

There may need to be some changes made to the network configuration files I am sure. However, you have to check to see their location. Can't remember, but seems like they are in /etc/network-scripts or maybe /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts directories I am guessing.

Anyway, that might be the way to go. I am not at home, so can't check for the files or their location.

Will try to follow up later when I am there.

Yes the files are in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts which is where I've been playing around. I'm not 100% I know what I'm doing - more trial and error so far with no success. When I do 'nmcli connection show' I see:

NAME UUID TYPE DEVICE
enp2s0 71f8491d-5eb3-4652-9211-408f67d40366 802-3-ethernet --
enp3s0 63aa2036-8665-f54d-9a92-c3035bad03f7 802-3-ethernet --
eth1 306fa58b-9caf-40c3-be51-d7dbd0f50287 802-3-ethernet enp3s0

enp3s0 (and enp2s0) are the adapters from the PC that I installed Fedora from. I created a new ifcfg-eth1 file (copied and adapted from enps3s0) and have been playing with teh UUID's in that file but still no luck.

Should I be using the ifcfg-enp3s0 or ifcfg-eth1 file and what should that file look like

Currently I have (in enp3s0):

TYPE=Ethernet
BOOTPROTO=none
DEFROUTE=yes
IPV4_FAILURE_FATAL=no
IPV6INIT=yes
IPV6_AUTOCONF=yes
IPV6_DEFROUTE=yes
IPV6_FAILURE_FATAL=no
NAME=enp3s0
# UUID=306fa58b-9caf-40c3-be51-d7dbd0f50287
UUID=63aa2036-8665-f54d-9a92-c3035bad03f7
ONBOOT=yes
IPADDR=192.168.1.156
PREFIX=24
GATEWAY=192.168.1.1
DNS1=8.8.8.8
DNS2=8.8.4.4
DOMAIN=amahi.net
IPV6_PEERDNS=yes
IPV6_PEERROUTES=yes
#
#added below
NETMASK=255.255.255.0
USERCTL=no

ifcfg-enp3s0 is the correct file.

Also remove or disable all references to IPV6. Amahi only works with IPV4. This could be a clue into your issue. Once done, restart the network or reboot the machine.

This is what one of my test VMs reflects for ifcfg-ens18 (which is the adapter for my VM):
TYPE=Ethernet
BOOTPROTO=none
DEFROUTE=yes
IPV4_FAILURE_FATAL=no
NAME=ens18
UUID=c884064f-d7dc-495c-a9e1-2cd72be86e1e
ONBOOT=yes
IPADDR=x.x.x.x
PREFIX=24
GATEWAY=x.x.x.x
DNS1=x.x.x.x
DNS2=1x.x.x.x
DOMAIN=amahi.net
BTW, your IP address for the HDA must be less that 100 or it will conflict with the DHCP server which assigns 100-255.

I never managed to make this work with Amahi 9. So went back to Amahi 7 with no problems. Not sure the difference but couldn't spend any more time on it. Needed a working server..!

You could try the upgrade path to Amahi 8, then Amahi 9 without doing a new install.

Guidance is available on http://docs.amahi.org

Recommend you have a backup of Amahi 7 as a precaution though before upgrading.

I thought a new install was preferred vs upgrading which was why I tried that.

I use the Logitech Media Server (Squeezebox). Looks like its not supported in the In Amahi 8?. Will this cause upgrade issues from 7 to 8 to 9 .

It is, but upgrade might be best in your situation.

Likely it will not work. Also it is recommended that all apps be uninstalled before upgrading to prevent any issues.

I uninstalled all apps, upgraded from 7 to 8. 'yum check' showed a bunch of 'missing requires of'. I cleaned some up but not all. I then upgraded from 8 to 9. Everything appears to have gone OK. I reinstalled the apps I use (most important one being Logitech Media server). It and the other servers are running fine. So at the moment things look good. I'm not sure what all of the 'yum check' errors are - should I be worried or just forget them

Not sure, but you might try the following and see if it helps:

Code: Select all

sudo dnf clean all sudo dnf update
Do the OS updates if you want or just say no.

Since this thread appears to have run it's course, I will mark it as closed.
