CLOSED: Dead Hard Drive?

Postby burn913 » Thu Sep 01, 2016 6:01 am

I awoke this morning to no internet and a locked up server, with an error message about input/output error. I restarted the server machine, which seemed to be booting normally into fedora, but then the attached screen came up, and continues to run and run. My first inclination is that the hard drive is dead, but I want to be 100% sure before i buy a new one. Any ideas?

Thank you

Not sure, but it's likely going out. Unfortunately unless you have a backup, you may potentially lose all your files.

Might check the internet to see if anyone has encountered this issue.

BTW, having a spare hard drive on hand is not a bad idea. If you buy one and don't need it, at least you are prepared.

No worries, the files are all backed up. I'll just replace the HD and reinstall amahi and hopefully be up and running again soon!
