Can I just reinstall and set a root password along with my admin user?
You don't need to set a root password. The key component here is that you make your user an administrator.

We don't recommend setting a root password as it may cause issues.

As long as the user has administrator rights, you would then do:

Code: Select all

sudo su -
and enter your user password.

You can also precede any command with

Code: Select all

sudo
and it will ask for your password, but execute the command as if you were root.

Yeah I've gone over it again and again, triple checked everything. I created an administrator user, did not set root password. After installation and reboot, no matter the command that I use, it gives me the message that my user is not in the sudoers file. I can't proceed and it seems to recognize that my password is correct, but for some reason it doesn't recognize my user as admin/root. I'm stuck bad.

I tried burning another installation CD, but I got the same result. I'm trying the full DVD install now. Any other suggestions?

UPDATE: after 5 tries with the minimal install disc, the full DVD worked fine. I'm installing 8 now.

While I'm still confused about the problem with the minimal install, I was successful using the DVD full install. I have installed Subsonic and Transmission (both on beta for fedora 21) and both are functioning well so far! As always, thanks for your help!

Turns out Fedora made a change that requires a root password for CD installs. DVD installs are unaffected.

We have updated the install guidance to reflect the correct actions.

Thanks for providing feedback on the apps.

Transmission has been released and the other will follow soon.
