CLOSED: Apps Supported in Amahi 8

Postby burn913 » Sun Nov 01, 2015 1:49 pm

Is there any information about when certain apps will be supported on Amahi 8? I acquired a new 64 bit machine to install Amahi 8 on, but have been waiting to install 8 until certain apps are out of beta on Fedora 21. One in particular that i'm interested in is Subsonic, which doesn't seem supported on Amahi 8 yet.

Thanks!

No specific timeline for app release.

Would you like to help by testing Subsonic? We would appreciate feedback and if all goes well, we can release it.

I'm pretty much a novice with Linux. Do you have to have much experience to be a tester? Also, while testing, could I have the new amahi 8 server running side by side with my existing older amahi server?

Not really as this is more an install and verify things are working correctly.

It's possible, but not recommended. You need to know how to switch DNS between the two to be able to test.

Ok, that's fine. I'm going to try to get amahi 8 up and running on my new machine today. At that point, what do I need to test subsonic?

I will give you access.

Once you get it installed, test functionality and report results in a bug report.

I know this is getting a little off topic, but I'm hung up in the amahi 8 install process. I installed fedora 21 successfully using the good step by step wiki instructions but when I start the process for installing amahi, I'm having trouble logging in as root. When I type sudo su - it asks for a password. I type in my password and it says my user "is not in the sudoers file. This incident will be reported." Any ideas? I did not set a password for root in the fedora installation. I tried reinstalling fedora, made sure to not set the root password, and am still having the same issue.

Did you make your user administrator per the wiki documentation during the Fedora install? If so, then the password is the one for that user.

If you did not, there is some manual work that you will need to do or reinstall.

Yes, I followed the directions exactly and have read through them several times. I've installed/reinstalled fedora 21 three times and it still won't let me login as root. During installation, I did not set the root password, I only created an admin user that I can login with. I just can't login as root for some reason. I can't figure out what's going wrong.

Can I just reinstall and set a root password along with my admin user? that seems like it could be an easy solution since I'm pretty familiar with the fedora install process.
