My kids were complaining their current Minecraft 1.8 is saying the server .jar is out of date and cannot connect to it. Can Multicraft on Amahi .jar file be updated (before I break anything)?

Are you asking if you can manually update it? I would say yes. Just rename the current .jar file in case you need to put it back.

If you want us to update the app for Amahi 7, please submit a bug report. BTW, we do not update apps for Amahi 6 (Ubuntu/Fedora 14).

UPDATE: According to their web site, 1.8 is the latest.

Thanks Big.
Yes, I meant manually. I'll give it a go tonight.

The current Multicraft app in the Amahi store is 1.8.2. If you find a newer version, please let us know as their web site indicates we have the latest version.

Big, my Multicraft was using 1.7.5 .jar.
I used the update options within Multicraft. I updated the .conf file first, then the server .jar.
Update now confirmed I had 1.8.2 loaded and working.
HOWEVER.............server was listed as started but offline. Log stated I needed to accept EULA.
I was not aware of the new EULA..........
I followed the Multicraft How To to create a new config file to accept the EULA and make it true.
http://www.multicraft.org/site/docs?view=howto#12
Now server starts and my kids can connect using their current Minecraft clients.
All good, thanks for your input.
Maybe I should have a go at playing Minecraft........

Was this on Amahi 7? Curious why you did not have the latest JAR file. I presumed the Amahi app would include that piece.

Yes Amahi 7. Not really sure why I didn't have the latest jar.
I've had Multicraft for a while now. I assume you have to manually update the jar within Multicraft when a new version is released. I haven't changed any settings since first installed.

Not sure if you saw this text in the special instructions, but it tells you how to update the Minecraft server
By default, this app comes with the standard Minecraft server, version 1.6.2. To upgrade this or use other server, like the optimized server or the Craftbukkit server, login as admin, then go to Settings, then click on Update Minecraft.

There are multiple steps: selecting the server kind you want to get, first download the .conf file, then install it. Then select the JAR file, followed by download and install.
Push of a few buttons and it's updated automatically from the source.

UPDATE: I updated the app to include the latest JAR file (1.8).
