Does not look like it will do anything different than Greyhole. Maybe do mount shares locally script and then point Gallery app to that location.

That was helpful as the files will be stored somewhere else but now I do not see the previews...this is what I wrote to gallery support:
I wanted to move the location where files are stored (the /var folder) because I want to store the pictures (240GB) on a drive different from my root drive where I have Gallery3 installed. Before I moved the /var folder the picture upload went fine, thumbnail was created and it was showing in the gallery overview. I could also enlarge the picture and it was displayed correctly. After I moved the /var folder according to this

http://codex.galleryproject.org/Gallery ... _directory

they are still uploading and generating the thumbnail but not showing in the preview. When I try to enlarge the picture it shows an empty white space and when I click then to see the original size image, it looks as if the link is broken. I can open the pictures fine on my samba share (which is where I moved the /var to) and there is also no error in the logfiles.

What do I have to change to make Gallery2 accessible from the web? I followed this wiki

https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Hostin ... gle_Webapp

and added the extra line gallery3.mydomain.com but it does not make it accessible. What else do I need to change?

So I have successfully moved the /var folder to a greyhole pooled drive on /mnt/samba/Gallery3. However, there seem to be some permissions issues as the pcitures are uploading fine but won't show in the web UI. I asked the people of the galleryproject in the forum:

http://galleryproject.org/node/112253#comment-407028

I believe that there is a permissions issue but I changed the smb.conf file and the permissions related to the Gallery3 folder to 0777. However, I still only have drwxrwx--- permissions. Maybe the last post from floridadave in the above forum thread might point in the right direction? He thinks it is php that cannot write to the new share location?

Just a word of caution. Changing the smb.conf file is not advisable. Amahi controls that file and will potentially rewrite it, erasing any changes you make. The file shares permissions should already be set by default.

This may be a case where Greyhole is not compatible. Recommend you try creating a share that does not use Greyhole, then put a few pics in it and see if the behavior changes. We have seen a few apps that do not play well with Greyhole, i.e. Amahi Sync.

So just remove "Gallery3" from the copies section of greyhole.conf?
