I've got my HDA running and after a couple hiccups it looks like everything is going smoothly now, except VPN. I installed the OpenVPN one-click server, I opened up port 1194 on my router, I installed HDA Connect 3 on my client machine and when I login to Amahi.org I get a green light on my OpenVPN Tester. When I try to access just http://hda on my client machine nothing happens - 404 error. It appears I have no access to anything on my HDA even thought the HDAConnect icon is green. I've attached my HDAConnect log (zipped) to see if that helps at all to diagnose what's wrong...
So my first question is, what am I doing wrong or missing? I don't see any instructions on Amahi about setting up a certificate on my HDA. Do I need to do that?
Second question is, once I get the connection working, is there a way to do a remote desktop type thing where I can use the UI on the machine?
Thanks for your help!
Eddie

Check VPN Troubleshooter in the wiki.
Also, typically you need to use the fully qualified server name. For example, http://hda.home.com. Substitute your domain if it's different.

Re: New install, can't connect through OpenVPN
I worked out my VPN issues and now connect to the Amahi machine from Windows 7 using the HDAConnect 3 app. I've got the green "A" in my system tray, and am connected. So now I try to do a remote desktop. I put in the fully qualified domain name (i.e. mynickname.hdahome.com) and it prompts me to login. I put in my root login that I use to login to the machine all the time and it just keeps saying invalid login. Do I need to setup some other login, or is it using some other login that perhaps I forgot about? Not sure which login to use, but I know my root login definitely does not work...
Thanks for your help!

The login credentials are your first admin user that you use to log into the HDA dashboard.

No, I tried that and it just keeps saying "Your credentials did not work." I even changed the password of the first account in the Dashboard, and then used that password in the remote desktop dialog and it says the same thing... ?
Re: New install, can't connect through OpenVPN
I am sorry, I might have missed it but what is the HDA OS? If it's remote desktop that is causing the issue, there could be a firewall issue or something on the HDA not set up correctly.
Have you considered trying VNC? I have not used remote desktop in the past, so not sure where to look. Does the Dashboard work?

Re: New install, can't connect through OpenVPN
Sure, it's Ubuntu 12.04. The dashboard does work. I also have a few apps installed and those all work as well. In other words, I can access them from my Windows desktop machine in a web browser. I can also connect to the HDA using the HDAConnect3 app, so I believe all of the pieces are there, it just doesn't like the login I am using for some reason. I have not tried VNC, I'll check that out and see if ti works for me.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I downloaded VNC Viewer and ran that, and I can connect using that, so I'm all set! Thanks!!
