The samba.conf comment field

Postby genel » Fri Nov 23, 2012 10:55 pm

I would like to suggest that you make the "comment" field of the samba share available in the share set up.

The comment is useful if someone uses "net view \\hda". Currently it just gets filled in with a copy of share name, for my purposes I would like to put something like "this share only has one copy" or "put stuff you want to keep safe here".

We can add it to the list. Please submit a feature request in the bug tracker at bugs dot amahi dot org. If there is enough interest, we will consider adding it.

I just posted an update to your Feature request. We don't need to add anything as a comment can be added using the "Extra Parameters" option on each share. It will override the current comment.

http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Share_Extra_Parameters

This method will work for many Samba settings that users want to change or add to samba.conf file.
