System upgrades & DHCP leases

Postby Peter847 » Mon Aug 06, 2012 11:13 am

I have had my hda running for about 1 month now and all looks good so it is time to fine tune it! I have a couple of questions before I start:

1. I'm running on Ubuntu 12.04 and did not take the system upgrades during the installation, do I accept them now?

2. I have a number of "dead" DHCP leases (actual device is no longer on the network or I've moved it to a static lease) but the dynamic leases will not disappear from the list. How do I clear the list?

You can update the OS if you choose. I did and have not had any issues as of yet. In regards to the DHCP leases, that is a known bug. We are working to find a solution.

Ref the DHCP issue - how about if I edit them out of /var/lib/dhcp/dhcpd.leases? I want to get rid of the "h1XX.home.com" devices by assigning them a proper name statically. So once they are gone they will not come back.

I am sure that is doable. I have searched all over the internet and cannot seem to find any guidance about this issue. It seems the list gets bigger and bigger.
