I would like to be able to build sub-shares that have different settings than the parent.
For instance.....
Amahi by default has Music, Movies, Pictures as spearate shares. i hate flat folder structures for storage so i have a media share with sub folders for each.
I would like to be able to have different settings for the number of file copies for each sub share for Greyhole.
Thanks.
Feature Request - More Granular Shares

Please submit this in the bug tracker so we don't lose sight of it.
Also, can you create the structure you want and then in the dashboard create shares, mapping them to the sub folders?
You can create a share and map it to any folder you choose. Then you would only enable Greyhole on the sub folders.

Re: Feature Request - More Granular Shares
yes.....especially around tax time.....mind suffering from overload
Re: Feature Request - More Granular Shares
it's true.. the dashboard will map to any sub-share you created.. eg:
/var/hda/files/movies
/var/hda/files/movies/horror
and in the dashboard, mount both of these, but one it named horror, the other names movies.
The permissions and greyhole pooling should be changeable from there.
Funny, I've used this once and got confused, so I changed my structure of shares entirely later on.

this didnt work so well.......deleted ALL my files. i am guessing that unchecking "uses pool" on the parent folder caused greyhole to remove the files
any issues with leaving this checked but having different numbers of copies for the child folders?
Re: Feature Request - More Granular Shares
thankfully an --fsck got my stuff back but that was a little scary....
crashplan had not quite finished its backup....;/
so i guess as long as i setup the shares that way from the start, i should be good.
the only problem with this is that my samba shares are back to flat since they only share what greyhole knows about. so i am back to my orginal feature request....
i will try to write it up and outline my failed attempt at a workaround so that the Amahi and Greyhole dev(s) can understand what i am asking for and hopefully have an easy fix.

Re: Feature Request - More Granular Shares
AFAIK Greyhole doesn't delete stuff when you remove folders from the pool. Your files are likely still there, but just not sym-linked to anywhere you can see them.
I'm curious what the nesting you seek will look like

Re: Feature Request - More Granular Shares
the files are still on the drives under the gh folder.......the symlinks were removed from the landing zone is all.
not a major incident but it made me gasp.....at first
basically the nesting i want is this
backups-->crashplan (no copies)
backups-->dbbackup (max copies)
backups-->Dropbox (no copies)
backups-->windows_backups (1 copy)
media-->books (max)
media-->music (max)
media-->movies (1 copy)
