VPN issues

Postby Sanjiv1958 » Tue Nov 15, 2011 11:37 am

I am using the "Windows VPN client" and
I am able to get green connection successful with "Homehda is now connected and assigned ip 10.8.0.6" message.
When I put in the ip address in browser I do not "see the HDA"
How do I actually transfer files from my workplace client that has successfully connected to my hda?
Should I see the hda in network places? Network places do not see it as well. Windows 7 is OS on client.
Thank you.

When using the VPN client, you do not use the IP to access the dashboard. Use http://hda and it should appear. The VPN client should allow you to access shares just like you are inside your network, i.e. \\hda.

Thank you.
I am able to connect to the hda however all I see is the Amahi dashboard. How do I access the shares from the dashboard? In fact even within my LAN when I go to "http://HDA" I go to the same dashboard. I am using the run command or the network places in windows 7 PC to access shares and use the NAS functionality.
So please suggest solution to access shares via the dashboard.
Thank you.

The only way to access shares via dashboard is using a web app. Recommend you try one of the following:

AjaXplorer http://www.amahi.org/apps/ajaxplorer
OpenVPN ALS http://www.amahi.org/apps/openvpn-als

You can also do so via the "Run As" with Windows 7 just as you would inside your network.

Thanks a lot!
Problem solved, with hda connected via VPN I used "run as \\hda" and was able to access all my shares!
I cannot thank the developers and the forum support enough for making available this incredible technology free. Even a non IT person like me could (with help from you guys) create a fabulous NAS and HDA solution!
Thank you very much.
