Amahi DLNA metadata...

Postby rjwaldren » Sun Aug 07, 2011 5:23 pm

I'm using AmahiDLNA and having great success with streaming content through Xbox and even have good MKV support through my samsung bd-d5500. The various miniDLNA product have results in documentation being pretty sparse. I have found an indication that it should handle XMBC style nfo files for metadata.

Does anyone have an easy solution for generating metadata including thumbnails that works well with amahiDLNA? I'm looking for a windows/linux standalone solution if possible, that simply generates the info in a format that AmahiDLNA can handle.

I know this is a little bit late but it could be useful to someone else with that problem.

One of the best solutions for creating XBMC nfo files is the Ember Media Manager (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=50348). Unfortunately, you have manually scan your shares for changes, so every time you add a movie you have to open the application and scan the folder.

One more application, (not free, though) is the meta <browser/> (http://themetabrowser.com/). The best thing about this one is that it will scan all changes automatically, so when you download a movie you just have to put it in the movies folder and it will download metadata on the spot.

Note that both apps work only on Windows, I have yet to find a decent one for Linux so I have installed meta <browser/> on one of my network clients and let it scan my hda.

What about this thread to centralise the XBMC database and it allows you to watch part in one room and then move to another and automatically continue from the right place!!

I have not tried yet and there would appear to be issues with the implementation but I plan on trying this out next weekend!
