Fresh install from express cd fails

After selecting all the default prompts including the option to wipe my drive, the system appears to install correctly but on reboot I'm dropped to a grub prompt.

I attempted to manually select the root drive however grub tells me the drive does not exist.

I don't know what it means, but I've never seen that before. Mine says: TYPE="ext4"

Are you doing a headless install?

Is this a 32bit or 64bit installation?

What selections are you making during the install?

Are you following the install instructions from here: http://www.amahi.org/support/instructions?

What else have you tried? Have you tried re-installing again?

default across the board. All though I've attempted to install now a dozen times with the same result and have tried a number of scenarios.

just recently tried booting off the live CD and blowing away the MBR and all partitions, to no avail ... same result.

My current attempt has been to write zero's across the entire drive (2TB sigh!) if it finishes sometime tonight (not likely) I will try to reinstall Amahi again tomorrow.

Is there some way you could try a non-headless install?

Unless there is some type of hard-disk failure going on, it must be something to do with the install.
Many people have been installing this (using defaults) with success, so we know the process usually works.

Have you tried manually setting up the partitions?

Just swapped the drive for a new one and trying the headless install one more time.

Brand new drive same exact issue, going to step through the graphical installer now. Is there a recommend partition layout?

not sure why but Fedora just doesn't like me. Following the none LVM partitioning scheme didn't resolve my issue so I attempted to install Fedora 14 from DVD with the same result

SIGH!

going to try and install gentoo at this point and see if I can't pinpoint the problem step by painful step.

This is starting to sound like a hardware issue. I have seen this in the past where the video card or sometimes the network card is not compatible with Fedora.

It's not clear from your description, but are you ending up in a grub menu?

If so, at which point in the install process does this happen?
