Amahi not renewing its own ip

Postby davidleu » Fri Mar 11, 2011 11:09 am

Long story short, I don't wish to use Amahi's DHCP service since the box's hardware is extremely flaky and I'm in the middle of troubleshooting its hardware.

I followed the instructions in the FAQ/Wiki, going to the settings and disabling the watchdog and shutting down the service. That seems to work fine. The problem is that the router (Verizon Actiontec) has a timeout of 24 hours on its DHCP leases. The Amahi server is not renewing its own IP so it falls off after 24 hours. All the other Windows computers and everything seem okay with the self-renewing.

What do I need to do to get Amahi to renew its own IP and use the router as the DHCP server?

Thanks.

A device that has a static IP address does not lease addresses so it will never renew.

You shut off the DHCP server. That does not mean you enabled DHCP client.

EDIT: I guess i should also add that i dont think, i could be wrong, that it is possible to use DHCP with Amahi.
