Trouble with Amahi 11 Upgrade - No Fileshares

Postby gstorr » Thu Jul 09, 2020 12:38 pm

Hi. Just upgraded to Amahi 11 and now all my shares are undetectable. Can't see any of my drives in the Greyhole UI and as a result cannot set them up to pool. Was working fine on previous version. Been searching WIki's etcs for help but found nothing to help me recovery. I am not very good at Linux so need some guidance. Any suggestions on how to move forward to fix this?

Attaching screenshots of my Setup panels.

Did the upgrade complete without errors?

Did you follow the upgrade instructions precisely? All plugin apps have to be uninstalled prior to upgrade.

What Amahi version did you upgrade from?

Most users don’t have much luck with the OS upgrade.

You may have to reinstall.

BTW, your attachments are missing.

Happy to assist.

Thanks for the reply. Was coming from Amahi 6 but did a fresh install. No errors in install. I have reattached my screenshots..should I reinstall?

Images are not showing in your post.

Sorry I misunderstood when you said upgrade. That typically doesn’t mean new install.

Did you mount your drives after install? It’s not automatic for extra hard disk drives.

As for shares, are you stating you don’t see any shares? The default shares should be reflected.

Check shares tab, then try accessing them again.

Thanks for the reply. The drives won't mount, I dont even get a UUID for the drives. And now I am getting many coredumps on the console. Could this be a Fedora issue? I am really out of my league here and need some guidance.

Also, I cant add the attachments as I am getting a message that attachment quota has been reached.

Appreciate any help

Might be a bad install.

Recommend you reinstall from scratch.

Also only connect the OS drive until you get Amahi installed and working.

You can then add drives once things are stable.

I did a fresh reinstall with all disks except the OS drive connected. I then connected the other drives ( I have 4 2TB drives for Greyhole pooling). When I run hda-diskmount I receive the following:

****************************************************************
Ignoring /dev/sda1 - already mounted
Ignoring /dev/sda1 - already in /etc/fstab as UUID=1fe91db3-4ad7-4d18-8550-cfe250c4e77c
****************************************************************
Ignoring /dev/sda3 - already mounted
Ignoring /dev/sda3 - already in /etc/fstab as UUID=d2f7e724-f7ea-4ced-b692-55993d28c8fe
****************************************************************
No usable Linux, Windows or Mac partitions found on your disks.

Seems I don't have partitions on the greyhole drives, but if I repartition I will lose my data.

Did you install the dependencies before using hda-diskmount?

If you installed with the drives disconnected, you should see the once reconnected.

Did you follow the wiki guidance for adding drives?

Went through the add drives section, omitting the partitioning (because drives have data on them) but installing the prerequisites. Still getting the following:

[admin@localhost ~]$ sudo hda-diskmount
****************************************************************
Ignoring /dev/sda1 - already mounted
Ignoring /dev/sda1 - already in /etc/fstab as UUID=1fe91db3-4ad7-4d18-8550-cfe250c4e77c
****************************************************************
Ignoring /dev/sda3 - already mounted
Ignoring /dev/sda3 - already in /etc/fstab as UUID=d2f7e724-f7ea-4ced-b692-55993d28c8fe
****************************************************************
No usable Linux, Windows or Mac partitions found on your disks.

Now I am getting concerned my data is gone. What are my next steps?

Thanks

It looks like the drives are not connected.

Linux would show them regardless if they are formatted or not.

Recommend you check connections and the BIOS to ensure your machine is recognizing them.

You cal also do:

Code: Select all

ls -al /dev/disk/by-id
