SOLVED: No UUID assigned to new hard drive

Postby annken100 » Wed Aug 30, 2017 6:52 pm

Hello, I'm having difficulty adding a third drive to Amahi server. I'm following the instructions on amahi.org for manually adding a hard drive. I go through all the steps without errors until I get to the part where I use hda-diskpart. All the drives are shown but the new drive does not have a UUID. I typed ls -1 /dev/disk/by-uuid/ and it doesn't show up there either. If I type /dev/disk/by-id/ i can see the new drive labeld sdc and it's partition sdc1. I've tried the process many times with the same result. How do I get a UUID?

Found the problem. The drive was used in a ZFS pool previously. I wiped the drive by writing all zeros and then added it successfully.
