CLOSED: Error upgrading from Amahi 8 to 9

Postby peddie » Tue May 23, 2017 7:51 pm

I'm trying to make my way up to Amahi 10. Was able to upgrade to 8 last night, but now I'm stuck going to 9. I'm getting errors from both the Fedora upgrade and Amahi. Have tried several of the the suggestions for the Perl error I have, but nothing seems to work. Here is the latest output from when I try to upgrade:

root@localhost craig]# dnf install fedup

Is there something in the amahi 8 upgrade that didn't take that I need to fix first?

Thanks for any help....

You didn't follow the instructions correctly!

fedup --22 is not correct. Recommend you follow the guidance at http://docs.amahi.org precisely.

Also be aware we do not provide support for upgrade from #Amahi 7 to #Amahi 8 and #Amahi 8 to #Amahi 9. To get to the latest version, it's best to install from scratch.

Upgrade may work, but all apps should be uninstalled for best chance at success.

So I've spent hours today trying to get Fedora upgraded to 25 with no success. Keeps complaining about hda-platform requiring libraries that none of the providers can install. Happening for libruby, perl-PlRPC, hdt-ctl, hda-suite and ffmpeg.

I have 7 TB of movies and photos running on greyhole disks, so it is not trivial to just back them up onto another 7TB drive so I can do a fresh install. My hardware is a HP Homeserver with 4 2TB drives, so the root (fedora) is taking up part of the first 2TB. Please tell me there is a way I can get Fedora upgraded and Amahi installed without having to either a) trash the 7TB of data I have or b) go buy another 8TB of USB disk just for backup.

Help!?

The HDA OS Migration Guide might help.

Also, if using Greyhole then your movies should be on other drives. Simply disconnecting them will keep them safe. There is wiki guidance for reconnecting Greyhole drives to the storage pool.

I seem to have made it most of the way thru without any problems, except I am not able to re-connect the greyhole shares, even though all the data is still on those drives/shares. Per the grephole troubleshooting page, here is the requested information:

<TEXT REMOVED...see https://paste.fedoraproject.org/paste/b ... LivL9gydE=>

The problem must be centered around the "hda_production.disk_pool_partitions' does not exist" error. But I am at a loss on how to fix that.

Any guidance would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Ok, seems I have the shares back. Had to run the bit about truncating the sql database, and then it recreated the share database and I have all my shares back now. Seems that all data is intact. Phew.

Have to admit, the Amahi documentation is for the most part very, very good and thorough. Better than probably most docs I have read in my 30 years in the software business.
