Boot partition full

Postby padadof2 » Wed Apr 26, 2017 4:35 pm

Let me start by saying I think this may have to do with "Extra files" that are there from a music share that I deleted. I'm not sure, but when I access my HDA from the ios App, I can still see four folders that were in my original music share. I can play them on the app, so I know they're still somewhere, but I can only see them on the iOS app, not in my windows folders.

EDIT: The 4 mystery folders showed up now in windows, I just deleted them.

I am VERY new to home servers and fedora is foreign to me, but with every install, troubleshooting and disk install, I'm getting better. With that being said, how can I find out where those four mystery folders are, and delete them?

Do I need to increase my / partition, if so, how do I do it and not lose any data. I've not backed anything up yet, so I'm nervous.
When I do df -h, I get this for the partition:

/dev/sda3 50G 50G 100% /

all the others are less than 63%.

I'm not sure if it matters, but I did move the landing zone to one of my 5tb drives during the process of migrating all my data over.

Thanks in advance!

Based on your post, the 4 shares are not a problem any longer.

As for the root partition (/) being full, the OS should only take up 5 GB or so at most. It sounds like you are using Greyhole, so there should be plenty of space on the / partition.

Please provide the URL for:

Code: Select all

apaste --sysinfo
Also describe how you have Amahi set up, i.e. Greyhole, what partitions are part of the storage pool, shares handled or not by Greyhole, etc.

Without details, it's difficult to assist you.

My partitions are set up like this:

/dev/sda1 476 MB 368 MB 78.7 MB (18%) /boot
/dev/sda2 407 GB 57.2 GB 350 GB (86%) /home
/dev/sda3 50 GB 200 MB 49.8 GB (100%) /
/dev/sdb1 4.51 TB 1.6 TB 2.69 TB (63%) /var/hda/files/drives/SG5TB01
/dev/sdc1 4.51 TB 4.17 TB 115 GB (3%) /var/hda/files/drives/SG5TB02
none 4 MB 2.09 MB 1.91 MB (48%) /var/spool/greyhole/mem

I have /home, /var/hda/files/drives/SG5TB01, and /var/hda/files/drives/SG5TB02 in the drive pool.
I am thinking I shouldn't have /home in there?

here are my shares:

Shares Storage Pool
Books n
CellPhone y
Docs y
Lychee n
Movies y
Music y
Newsgroups n
Owncloud9 y
Photos y
Pictures y
Public n
Qbittorrent n
TV y
Videos y

/dev/sda2 407 GB 57.2 GB 350 GB (86%) /home
Based on there being a /home partition, you did not accurately follow the #Amahi 9 install instructions. The partitioning scheme should have been set to standard, not LVM. As a result, the majority of your drive is not where it should be, in the root (/) partition.

You might consider restarting. This likely would eliminate your problem.

For your drive to be full at 50GB, there has to be a lot of files in your shares located in the /var/hda/files directory. Based on your post for Greyhole, I would not anticipate there would be any issues.

You mentioned moving your LZ to a different drive. Did you move the shares there? That's what lives in the LZ. If so, did you update the directory path in the Dashboard for each share?

Honestly, you might want to start over since you just got set up and do it as documented. That will provide for the best success.

I'm not opposed to starting over. My only concern is my data. What happens to the data on the disks? Do I add them later even though they have data on them? Can you explain how to do without loosing my data. I don't have extra discs to use.

Any data on non-OS drives will be safe. Recommend you disconnect them from your system.

Recommend you do a new install and get #Amahi working before adding the Greyhole piece back in. Ensure you follow the install guidance precisely for best results. Also recommend you do an OS update as well.

Once you have it working, move on to connecting the drives and mounting them. Then install Greyhole and work things from there. You will find the reconnect existing Greyhole storage pool guidance helpful.

Also don't forget that any shares/files not previously managed by Greyhole likely still reside on your OS drive. Ensure you copy them over to the other drives or back up prior to starting a new install.

As I am going through the install process again, when setting up the partitioning, Fedora 23 automatically adds the /home folder. I have gone through it 3 times, just to make sure I have checked standard partitioning. I tried deleting my old partitions in different manners, and the default setting keeps adding /home directory. I am deleting it during the install, but I must have overlooked that on the first install, since the wiki says default partitioning scheme will work. Did I miss something?

I could use some help now. I got the server up and running, added greyhole and reattached my 2 disks with my data. Disk wizard added them, but now i'm seeing a bunch of errors on the greyhole log.

The install guidance states to delete all partitions on the drive. Then it states to use Standard partitioning scheme, not LVM. The last step says to Click here to create them automatically and shows a screen shot with NO /home partition. The drive will show a directory listed as /home, but it will be on the root (/) partition. That is the desired end state.

Did you do that?

I will address your Greyhole errors once we get the initial drive partitioning sorted out.

I did select the standard partitioning setting, and it automatically added the /home partition, which I deleted.

I don't have /home partition now.

/dev/sda1 476 MB 368 MB 78.7 MB (18%) /boot
/dev/sda3 75 GB 73.2 GB 1.8 GB (3%) /
/dev/sdb1 4.51 TB 1.59 TB 2.69 TB (63%) /var/hda/files/drives/SG5TB01
/dev/sdc1 4.51 TB 4.17 TB 113 GB (3%) /var/hda/files/drives/SG5TB02
none 4 MB 4 MB 0 Bytes (0%) /var/spool/greyhole/mem

is my set up now.

Thank you
