As far as seeing the files in a comand prompt do you mean from within Windows or from putty on the amahi box?

I'm new with Linux so any guidance for changing drives and viewing directories and files from within putty would be appreicated.

Thanks.

From Putty to the HDA.

Once I'm logged onto my HDA through putty, how do I switch to the drive containing my files?

Thanks.

It will be the path listed in /etc/fstab for that drive.

When I'm logged in as root and type in /etc/fstab I get permission denied.

Try:

Code: Select all

cat /etc/fstab

BTW, you are doing advanced things with your HDA. I would strongly recommend you check out some internet guidance on basic Linux commands to get more familiar.

I hope you don't feel I don't want to help. Just making a suggestion to make your experience more pleasant.

At a loss here... This is what's showing in my dashboard under disks/partitions:

PARTITION SIZE FREE USED MOUNT POINT
/dev/sda1 1.79 TB 1.12 TB 593 GB (35%) /var/hda/files
/dev/sdb1 476 MB 368 MB 79.2 MB (18%) /boot
/dev/sdb3 34.6 GB 32.9 GB 1.73 GB (5%) /

sda1 is where my files are (movies, music, etc)

When I go to the shares tab in my dashboard and click on Music, for example, I get the following:

\\hda\Music
Location - var/hda/files/music
Size - du: cannot access '/var/hda/files/music': No such file or directory

This happens for all the shares listed.

I followed the instructions on adding a drive (this is a separate 2TB drive. The OS is on a different drive), and set it up to host all shares. Under my previous configuration I had an additional 2TB drive installed. That drive has died, so I am now down to one drive for data. I also had used greyhole. I don't know if that fact that the current 2TB drive I'm using for my data was initally part of the greyhole storage pool and I'm not using that now has anything to do with it.

When I do a df -h my data drive shows there and shows as 35% used.

Just not sure what the problem is. Seems like everything is set up correctly, I just can't get to the data on the drives and even the Amahi dashboard is say that no such file or directory exists, yet they show under a terminal window.

Sorry for the rambling, just not sure where to head at this point so I can get my system back up and running.

Thanks for all the help.

Please post the results for:

Code: Select all

cat /etc/fstab
and also:

Code: Select all

ls -al /var/hda/files
Something with permissions or the share path is not correct.

UUID=a4990bd2-1c42-4c7c-ba62-0469b5e8e12a /var/had/files ext4 defaults 1 2
Is this correct? If so, you have the path incorrect. It should be hda not had.

Also it does not appear you followed the instructions correctly. If so, all your shares would exist in the drive. That's your issue as it appears you skipped:

Code: Select all

mv /var/hda/files/* /var/hda/files/drives/drive1/
Since you are not currently using Greyhole, you need to move all the shares from /gh to the root directory. Ensure the share names are changed from sentence case to lower case.

They should look like this in /var/hda/files:
drwxr-xr-x. 11 root root 129 Apr 21 21:11 .
drwxr-xr-x. 13 root root 168 Apr 10 2016 ..

What is sda? is that supposed to be a share?
