OK.. I think I'm (we're) getting there.

This is what ls -al /var/hda/files is showing now

drwxr-xr-x 12 root root 4096 Apr 23 14:44 .
drwxr-xr-x. 13 root root 163 Apr 21 16:01 ..
drwxrwxr-x 2 wyzard users 4096 Apr 11 10:38 books
drwxrwxr-x 2 wyzard users 4096 Apr 11 10:38 docs
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Apr 23 14:40 drives
drwxr-xr-x 12 root root 4096 Apr 11 08:45 gh
drwxrwxr-x 2 wyzard users 4096 Apr 11 10:38 movies
drwxrwxr-x 2 wyzard users 4096 Apr 11 10:38 music
drwxrwxr-x 2 wyzard users 4096 Apr 11 10:38 pictures
drwxrwxr-x 2 wyzard users 4096 Apr 11 10:38 public
drwxrwxr-x 2 wyzard users 4096 Apr 11 10:38 tv
drwxrwxr-x 2 wyzard users 4096 Apr 11 10:38 videos

The only thing I think I (we) need to do (and once again am turrning to you for help) is to move all the shares from /gh to the root directory.

My drive is actually drive2 (not drive1). How do I go about getting the shares with all my files from /gh to the root directory?

Thanks again for all the help

Do the following:

Code: Select all

sudo mv /var/hda/files/gh/Movies/* /var/hda/files/movies
You will need to do this with each share in the /gh directory. Also note the Share names will be as they appear in the dashboard, i.e. Sentence case but the actual directory you are moving them too is lowercase.

Just one final question on an unrelated topic.

If I build a more powerful server, can I just move the drives over to it and everything will work with no modifications. I know with Windows, it matches the OS to the hardware so gets a little "upset" when you change things.

Thanks again for all your help.

Yes as long as you mount the drive the same way, i.e. /var/hda/files

Marking this one as resolved.
