SOLVED: Failed to synchronize cache error at fresh install

Postby blackdynamite » Tue Dec 06, 2016 12:13 pm

Hey,

I had a fully functional amahi system a few weeks ago but when I was moving to a new apartment it crashed. I attempted a fresh USB install but I received the following errors.
Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'fedora' from 'https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metal ... rch=x86_64': Cannot prepare internal mirrorlist: Curl error (6): Couldn't resolve host name for https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metal ... rch=x86_64 (Could not resolve host: mirrors.fedoraproject.org)

Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'updates' from 'https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metal ... rch=x86_64': Cannot prepare internal mirrorlist: Curl error (6): Couldn't resolve host name for https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metal ... rch=x86_64 (Could not resolve host: mirrors.fedoraproject.org)

When i searched around online the only thing I could find was to check the internet connection. However, as you can see in picture my internet is connected. I'm also able to connect other devices to the router via Cat5/6 and WiFi. I've tried both the full iso and netinstaller.

I'm using a custom rig: Asus motherboard, Intel i7-4770, 32GB RAM, (1) 2TB HDD and (1) 500GB HDD installed in a rackmount server. no DVD/CD drive

Are there any possible fixes to this?

One of your pics shows the Install Source as errored out.

That is likely part of your issue. Although it shows network connected, something else is amiss.

You cannot proceed with install until you are sure you have network connectivity and all options are resolved without error.

This is a hard wired machine, correct? There is something obviously wrong with the internet connection to this machine.

Thanks Bigfoot,

Yes. It is wired directly to a new comcast router. I've tried numerous ports and cables but i still get the same issue. Also, other devices can connect by cable to the router and still have access to the internet. Since it says 'connected' in Fedora what else could cause the issue I'm experiencing?

Might be the install media.

Are you following the instructions at http://docs.amahi.org?

Recommend you try the CD vs USB to see if that is the issue.

Unfortunately, this computer doesnt have a CD drive. The previous install from USB worked fine but I'll see if i can find a CD drive and try again. I'll let you know what happens.

Hey Bigfoot,

I burned the netinstall iso to a DVD and tried installing but I'm getting the same error again. What else can I try to resolve it?

Thanks

Thae error is characteristic of a lack of connectivity.

Maybe try the DVD install. Might be drivers that you need which the Netinstall does not provide.

Not sure what else it could be.

I burned the full DVD version and I was able to get the Fedora 23 install to work and then i rebooted per the directions. I logged in as root and then typed in the commands:

rpm -Uvh http://f23.amahi.org/noarch/hda-release ... noarch.rpm
dnf -y install hda-ctl
hda-install YOUR-INSTALL-CODE
and I replaced "YOUR-INSTALL-CODE" with the code i got from Amahi. I received the following errors:

Code: Select all

curl: (6) could not resolve host: f23.amahi.org error: skipping http://f23.amahi.org/noarch/hda-release-6.9.0-1.noarch.rpm - transfer failed [root@localhost ~]# dnf -y install hda-ctl Error: failed to synchronize cache for repo 'fedora' from 'https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=fedora-23&arch=x86_64': Cannot prepare internal mirrorlist: Curl error (6) Couldn't resolve host name for https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=fedora23&arch=x86_64 [Could not resolve host: mirrors.fedoraproject.org]
It seems the DVD solved the initial problem but a new one appeared. How can i fix this new one?

The error message indicates there is no connectivity.

Might try rebooting and then try again.
