Amahi 9 fresh install (Fedora 23)
System setup - http://paste.fedoraproject.org/366467/32527571/

Followed install instructions, setup drive with /boot, / and /swap only (removed /home).
Installed Greyhole UI, Disk Stats and Disk Wizard.
Booted up, all is well. Added a fresh drive (3tb).

Added it as an EXT4 drive, called it nas1. Added that to the Storage Pool, assigned the first share, Books, to the Pool.
But the status is
Status Greyhole is currently not active

Code: Select all

WARN initialize: Found a share (Books) defined in /etc/greyhole.conf with no path in /etc/samba/smb.conf. Either add this share in /etc/samba/smb.conf, or remove it from /etc/greyhole.conf, then restart Greyhole.
Greyhole.conf --> http://paste.fedoraproject.org/366470/32530371/
smb.conf --> http://paste.fedoraproject.org/366472/53079146/
systemctl status amahi-greyhole.service --> http://paste.fedoraproject.org/366485/14632552/

I thought this was a problem with my existing drive pool, but it fails on a fresh pool too.

Did you click the Run fsck button on the Greyhole UI status page?

Also is Samba running or been restarted since you made changes?

Running FSCK did nothing to the greyhole status, but it would appear that the samba serivce isn't running.
systemctl status smb --> http://paste.fedoraproject.org/366505/14632587/

So chances are, on my first install when I had issues getting the drive pool in, and I thought it was a mismatch of folder letter case, it was more likely Samba wasn't running, along with greyhole.

I may try the Amahi install tomorrow on different hardware to rule out any quirks with the HP Gen8 Microserver.

Update. Two fresh installs on different systems, both same result. After Fedora install (from DVD image), I let it reboot, install Amahi using my install code, let it reboot. Test internet connection. I can ping an external IP, but a host name. Odd because it downloads the RPM file fine prior to Amahi install. AFTER install i can no longer get the RPM file.
Regardless of that, SAMBA fails to start on both installs (one on HP Gen8, another on Asus P5QL which ran my Amahi 6.3 fine when my Gigabyte board died last week).
I'll try the net install.

Check out the Amahi 9 troubleshooting page. The last item might be related to your issue.

Yes, extra reboot does the trick. And using the NET INSTALL (vs the DVD install); Samba is working. My internet is pretty bad, hence why I chose the DVD install. Greyhole appears to be functional too. Time to import my Drive Pool.
DON'T use the DVD install of Fedora 23, it may not work.

Happy to hear it's working.

BTW DVD install does work. We have tested it many times. It may have not worked for you but others have had no issues.

Marking this thread as solved.

Thanks for your help. I can confirm that Samba is working.
