CLOSED: No Root Password?

Postby rdagijones » Thu Oct 15, 2015 8:11 pm

Trying out Amahi 8 and following the installation wiki. (https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Fedora ... al_Install) What's the deal with the warning "DO NOT set the root password?" Does this cause my dog to wet the carpet or something? (If so I will blame it on the cat.) I have set root passwords in Amahi 6 and 7 installs without issue. Can someone clarify? :D

Many new Amahi users were having issues. Most were only setting root password and not creating a user.

Since the user being created is an Admin user, a root password is not required. That user can execute commands with elevated privileges same as the root user. To keep it simple, we recommend not setting it.

If you created one, that's up to you. We are trying to keep the instructions simple and pertinent to what is needed for a successful install.

That makes sense. Thank for the information. I did both an admin user and a root password and it seems to be working just fine.
